Opinion: What the Hell Went Rogue?

Yesterday was a sad day in America.

I skipped going to karaoke because I wanted time to process.

You might already be aware of the SCOTUS’ decision on Roe v. Wade. I’ve never known a day in America where women did not have that right because of my birth cohort. That settled law was older than me.

I feel lucky to live in a state where the Supreme Court’s decision won’t affect the women living here. I feel angry not every woman has that right anymore — this decision will seep into other areas like cancer treatments, reproductive options/rights, sexual assault cases, and more.

If you don’t want an abortion, fine. Just don’t get one, but don’t tell someone else they shouldn’t get it because of your personal belief. It’s none of your business and it’s not your body. There are many other reasons why a woman might consider it.

Regarding Roe v. Wade, some of these justices lied to the American people. They said settle law was settled. How can we believe you when you tell us you won’t roll back something else?

But seriously, how far back do some of these extremist and fundamentalist groups want to take America?

Ironically, most people who fought against being vaccinated cite vaccination should be a choice were fighting against a woman’s right to choose what’s best for her health and life. So a woman suffering from an ectopic pregnancy and living in a state that does not allow abortion under any situation should die? What does that make her? A good God-fearing woman? Believe it or not, some nutty fundamentalists will praise these individuals as martyrs.

Same goes for the vaccine debate. If you don’t want to get vaccinated based on your beliefs then don’t get vaccinated, but if someone else wants to take it and feels that is the best decision for their health or family’s health then mind your fucking business. It bears repeating — it’s not your body. Even a doctor is not going to force someone to get treatment if they refuse. The patient has a right to refuse blood transfusion (and some people do), so why are your forcing your crap opinions on someone else?

Justice Clarence Thomas is a jerk — wanting to reverse other precedents. Funny, he left out Loving v. Virginia. Hmm, I wonder why? That was 55 years ago, and Roe v. Wade happened about five years later.

Ironically, most people who fought against being vaccinated cite vaccination should be a choice were fighting against a woman’s right to choose what’s best for her health and life.

But seriously, how far back do some of these extremist and fundamentalist groups want to take America? The news has already reported Justice Thomas and a few others want to revisit LGBTQAI+, Privacy, etc.

Are other precedents such as Brown v. Broad of Education and Plessy v. Ferguson next? These are not an exaggeration. Senator John Cornyn has already suggested the Supreme Court should look into bringing back segregation – here and here

Some of these idiot judges seem to have no idea of the disastrous chain reaction that is about to be unleashed.

Seriously, what the fuck is going on in this country? This decision undermines previous Supreme Court rulings. At this point, it feels like anything can be on the table.
