‘Tis a sad day for fashionistas and shoe lovers alike, especially for Manolo Blahnik fans. If you are thinking about grabbing a pair of strappy Manolo stilettos at the Manolo Blahnik public sample sale tomorrow – don’t bother.
This month’s Manolo Blahnik sample sale will be a private sale. I repeat. A private sale. The sale which has traditionally been a two day sale – the first day for day VIP’s and special clients and the second day for the public, will only be for VIP’s and special clients.
Reasons for this change is shrouded in mystery, but many feel that last season’s (Read Madness at Manolo) May 2013 sample sale was a complete fiasco.
The sale experienced an unprecedented amount of eager shoe shoppers and crowding. As a result, The Warick Hotel was on locked down for several hours. Those who were already there were advised not to leave, as there could be a chance they were not going to be let back in, and those who arrived later during the day were turned away. Hotel security were even checking key passes of visitors to make sure no one was trying to sneak into the sale.
What ever the reasons may be for this suddenly being a private sale, I feel that this could be a permanent change (I would not be surprised if they make the sale hush hush in the next few years). So in the midst of this very terrible news, let us pour some champagne on the sidewalk and remember the good ol’ days of unleashing your inner Carrie Bradshaw.
